Military families in Eastern Carolina must deal with hardships every day, but Sunday they were able to put their worries aside for the afternoon and have some fun as actor Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band performed.
You may know Sinise from CSI New York, or as Lt. Dan from the movie Forrest Gump.
Sinise along with his band performed at Camp Lejeune. The concert was free and sponsored by the USO. Their goal was to boost moral and thousands of people gathered to hear the music.
WITN talked with Sinise about his support for the military. Sinise said, "Everybody here should know that what they're going through is not taken for granted. I know where my freedom comes from. I know who provides that for me and I want to say thank you for that."
The Lt. Dan Band plays around 45 shows a year. This weekend they also played at Fort Bragg and in Beaufort, South Carolina.
