A Jacksonville car dealer was sworn in Thursday as the newest member of the state Board of Transportation.
Mike Alford will represent Division 3, which includes Onslow and Duplin counties.
“I’m extremely honored to receive this appointment from the governor,” Alford said. “I look forward to working with the other board members and the NCDOT staff to carry out the mission and goals for the department.”
Alford owns Marion Chevrolet Cadillac and is a UNC-Chapel Hill graduate. The last Onslow County representative on the D.O.T. board was Lewis Sewell who resigned in 2008 after there were questions whether he steered state highway money to projects near property owned by his family.
