Jones Wants Inquiry Of Marine Mental Health Care

A North Carolina congressman is asking the Defense Department to look into allegations that a whistleblower had good personnel reviews changed to bad after he was fired.

Rep. Walter Jones is a Republican whose district includes Camp Lejeune. Jones demanded a new investigation after Salon.com obtained documents that show how officials at Camp Lejeune changed Dr. Kernan Manion's favorable evaluations to unsatisfactory.

Manion was fired in September after working for eight months for a company that has a contract to provide mental health care on the North Carolina base.

Jones said in the letter last week to Defense Secretary Robert Gates that Jones' office has received numerous complaints about mental health care at Camp Lejeune.

WooooHoooooo! Someone had to blow the whistle. I see good coming out of this for the Marines returning from combat with PTSD. Thank you Dr. Manion! I give you an A for standing up for the Marines.
