The community will have the chance to pay their respects to a beloved high school principal. A memorial service for the late Albert James, the principal at Northside High School in Jacksonville has been scheduled for Thursday at 11 a.m. in the school gymnasium.
The funeral for James will be private.
Sad news out of Onslow County and Northside High School. After a brave battle with cancer Principal Albert James has died.
The high school's website says James passed away Saturday evening.
He is described as, "the rock, teacher, leader, mentor and friend who will be greatly missed but never forgotten."
A crisis team will be on school grounds on Tuesday when school resumes after the Martin Luther King, Jr holiday.
Funeral arrangements have not been finalized according to the school's website.
WITN visited Northside High School in November as part of the "How Cool is Your School" series. The acting principal then WITN that the students worked hard to attract the news crew to their school for the broadcast, in part, so they could bring the school to James. He had been too sick to come to work for some time.
