Onslow County To Vote On Sales Tax Hike

People in Onslow County could soon be faced with a choice they're pretty familiar with, whether to raise sales taxes by a quarter cent.

The Onslow County Board of Commissioners agreed at a workshop Tuesday to put the proposed sales tax increase on the ballot in May, according to the Jacksonville Daily News.

Onslow County voted against the same sales tax in May and November in 2008.

To smarter than you-- You sure don't sound like it! I never said no taxes, I said no new taxes. We are taxed enough as it is. Everyone has to live on a budget and so should the county. I know that taxes need to be payed for roads, schools whatever but they need to learn how to spend OUR money wisely!! Maybe YOU should take a look at the county budget and see how much money is being wasted!!

Beef, you're constipated by digesting liberal lies. George Herbert Walker Bush (born June 12, 1924 in Milton, Massachusetts) is a World War II veteran and war hero who served as the 43rd Vice President of the United States from 1981 to 1989 and the 41st President of the United States, serving January 20, 1989 - January 20, 1993 after defeating liberal Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis by a landslide. A moderate Republican who carried on most of the policies of the Reagan Administration, Bush's presidency presided over two major events, victory in the Cold War and collapse of the Soviet Union, and in the Persian Gulf War in 1991 against Iraq. His popularity soared after these foreign policy triumphs, but had little interest in domestic policies and troubled relations with the Democratic controlled Congress. He was defeated for reelection in 1992 by Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton. GET IT, DEMOCRATIC CONTROLLED CONGRESS!! Stop lying and please take some exlax. Congress raised taxes.

Steve is exactly right. Also, we have to vote on a sales tax increase, but we do not vote on a property tax increase. Stop taxing a small portion of the county to pay for services EVERYONE uses. On another note, stop punishing me for being a homeowner!! Please encourage your friends & neighbors to vote YES for the sales tax increase!! It will amount to an additional 25 cents for every $100 you spend. Or an additional $8 for every $100 of property value for homeowners. You tell me which is fair?!?!?!

Wheres the Beef? W, cut you taxes but smile, Obama repealed the Bush tax cuts as one of his first offical acts, you know, like funding abortions in other countries we now pay for....

Funny. Early in the Bush administration (when congress was also Republican) my property taxes jumped some 30%. Republicans are no guarantee against higher taxes. Remember George H. W. Bush? "Read my lips, no new taxes." Didn't work that way.

Just more of Obonga supporting board members raising taxes again. When do you ever hear of county board members cutting taxes? Vote conservative Republican next time around.

The citizens will either have a sales tax increase or a property tax increase......we decide. The sales tax is a more fair tax because ALL the people in Onslow county will be taxed, including allthe military families who live on base but use the county facilities and roads, but do not pay ANY property taxes. Also, all the tourist who go to Onslow beaches will help support our county by paying the taxes with their purchases. Futhermore, the sales tax is more fair to all tax brackets in that the more you make in income, the more you buy and therefore the more tax you pay. Upper incomes will pay more and lower incomes will pay less. In summary, THERE WILL BE A TAX INCREASE OF SOME KIND!!!! Property tax or sales tax...we decide. I know I will choose the tax that ALL PEOPLE who use our roads and facilities will pay, not just our property owners!!!!!

Yeah just what we need another tax increase!! When are these people going to learn. The last thing we need is another tax to pay. No matter how small this kind of stuff needs to stop. We all figure out how to live on a budget why can't the city and the county? Keep it up city and county "leaders" and find yourself in the unemployment line come next election!
