A Camp Lejeune Marine has died in the fighting in Afghanistan.
Corporal Xhacob Latorre of Waterbury, Connecticut died Tuesday of wounds he received August 10th in the Helmand privince.
Latorre was a mortar man, assigned to 2nd Battalion, 8th Marines. The 21-year-old joined the Marines in June 2005 and was promoted to corporal in June 2008.
His awards include the Purple Heart Medal, two Combat Action Ribbons, Good Conduct Medal, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, and the Iraq Campaign Medal.
Latorre is survived by his wife, 21, and son.
