An accident where a car was impaled outside of the Camp Lejeune Main Gate is still under investigation.
Crash investigators are interviewing witnesses to find out exactly what caused the three car crash. It happened just after noon Monday on Highway 24.
Three people were treated and released from the hospital.
31-year-old Victoria Bourg and 63-year-old Jill Baker of Jacksonville are still at Onslow Memorial Hospital in stable condition
Charges are pending.
A traffic accident Monday afternoon closed two of the three lanes of Highway 24, heading from Jacksonville towards Camp Lejeune.
The accident happened between around 12: 30 p.m., some 500 yards from the main gate. Westbound traffic is not impacted.
The wreck involved three vehicles, two smaller cars and an SUV. One of the smaller cars flipped upside down, and was impaled by a safety pylon for the walking trail between Camp Lejeune and Jacksonville.
Jacksonville police say there were injuries reported, but we do not know yet how serious those were.
Authorities say all three eastbound lanes of the busy highway are open again.
