Previous Story

Camp Lejeune says it's investigating another death of a Marine on the base.

A base spokesman says a Marine was found dead in his barracks Friday morning.

Master Sergeant Keith Milks with II MEF public affairs says foul play is not suspected, but he could not release any additional information.

The body was found around 9:45 a.m. and an investigation into the death is underway.

It comes a week after another Marine was found dead on the base. In that case, Private Jonathan Law has been placed in custody for the death of Corporal Joshua Hartzell.

He did not hang himself, and he was not decaying. He has only been dead an hour or so when I found him.

My husband is with 8th Marines and his best friend works in the same building as this kid. He wasn't there for days. He had hung himself that morning according to the guys he worked with. Apparently he called his family first to inform them he was doing this and nobody could get to him fast enough.

In a previous post, I indicated I would not surmise what happened until the investigation was complete, however, my son in law is the one who told me of this dead Marine, and he indicated he body was in intermediate stages of decomp. Now, I don't know if this is true or not but he was found in his barracks and my son in law indicated he had been there since Wednesday but not discovered until Friday. This seems a little strange to me, if its true. Wouldn't the other Marines notice the smell of decomp not to mention a dead Marine?
