Jacksonville police have released more information on a high school student hit by a car Wednesday afternoon.
Kitiara Brockway, a sophomore at Jacksonville High School, is at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. The hospital says she is now in fair condition.
A police report says the 17-year-old "darted" from a parking lot and was struck by a vehicle driven by Linda Stuart, also of Jacksonville.
The accident happened at 3:00 p.m. on Gum Branch Road, not far from the high school.
Jacksonville police say they don't anticipate any charges being filed. However, but the accident is still under investigation.

A police spokeswoman said it happened on Gum Branch Road in Jacksonville near Henderson, as the girl was crossing from a convenience store to the Northwoods United Methodist Church.
Jacksonville Police say the teenager was hit by the van around 2:45 Wednesday afternoon.
She was transferred to Pitt County Memorial Hospital. As of Thursday morning, the spokeswoman for the Jacksonville police department says she does not have the girl's name nor has any information about her condition.
The accident is under investigation.
