Million Dollar Grant For Swansboro Park Improvements

The town of Swansboro in Onslow County has received some big bucks to use for park improvements

A grant in the amount of 1 million dollars was just awarded to the town from the NC Parks Authority. The grant will help the town improve the 17 acre outdoor facility at the municipal park in town, as well as build a 6,000 square foot indoor recreation center.

Other additions will include a new skate park, walking trails, playground improvements, concession stands and restrooms.

Eighty-five local governments competed for this grant money -- the town of Swansboro's project was selected as number two overall.

Onslow County Schools received a HUGE grant from DODEA in August. http://militaryk12partners.dodea.edu/2009_grantawards.html#more Not surprisingly, however, NOTHING about this went out to the families. Someone should be asking WHERE is this money going?

That's nice. No money for schools, but plenty of money for parks. Keep up the good work, Bev.
