It was a packed house Wednesday at the Onslow County job fair in Jacksonville.
Lines were out the door at the Jacksonville Recreation Center as more than 1,500 applicants showed up to rub elbows with potential employers.
More than 70 employers were on hand -- and many were hiring people right on the spot.
Organizers say this is one of the busiest job fairs they've seen and they attribute that to the tough economy. They also say, the number of employers represented this year did dwindle, and that could mean more businesses are downsizing.
About 1,000 people attended the job fair last year.
