More affordable housing could soon be coming to Jacksonville, thanks to the help of some community college students.
Coastal Carolina Community College has partnered with the City of Jacksonville, where they use Community College construction students to build affordable homes in economically distressed areas.
Students have built 10 affordable homes since 1997.
Building materials for the HUD approved homes are provided through grants.
Work on another home in Jacksonville is set to begin at the end of the month.
