Fifth Camp Lejeune Casualty In Afghanistan Identified

The Pentagon announces that another Marine from Camp Lejeune has died in Afghanistan. This makes the 5th Marine from the base killed in the latest offensive against the Taliban.

Staff Sergeant David Spicer was killed Monday in combat operations in the Helmand province.

Spicer, of Zanesfield, Ohio, was assigned to the 8th Engineer Support Battalion at Camp Lejeune. He deployed to Afghanistan in May and had been selected for promotion to gunnery sergeant.

Spicer is survived by his wife and their one year old daughter.

On Saturday, two Marines from Lejeune were killed in Afghanistan, while last Wednesday two others were killed in combat action there as well.
