Arrest Made In Applebees Manager Murder

There's been an arrest in the murder of an Applebees manager in Roanoke Rapids.

Police tell WITN News that Joshua Rouse, a recent employee of the restaurant was arrested Thursday afternoon for first degree murder.

Riedel's sister, Cindy Riedel, called into WITN saying Rouse was fired Thursday morning, and was a current Applebee's employee when the murder happened.

Restaurant general manager Sandy Riedel was killed Monday morning at the business. Her body was found around 7:40 a.m. by another employee.

Police chief J.K. Hinton wouldn't go into any details about how they tied Rouse to the murder, only to say that all area surveillance tapes were taken into evidence.

Riedel, who was originally from Swansboro, attended ECU and worked at the Applebees in Greenville.

The state court web site says Rouse served almost six years on attempted armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon charges. He was released from prison last May.

I don't care about a person being black, white, asian, or whatever...If he/she takes a life meaningless the person should be KILLED. However, the guilt must be sure. I am SADDEN within the system. Those who commit crimes against another have no remorse. One day, I hope to be apart of the CHANGE process within the justice process. If so, YOU heartless criminal...You'll be made an EXAMPLE.

Tad...don't get me wrong, I certainly think that there is a problem with such a high crime rate among black males! But, all of these other people on here saying that "we are being so cruel just because he is black-we want the death penalty because he's black" is stupid. HE IS BLACK-but that doesn't change with him being a monster. You can be white or black and still be a monster. He happened to be black, and when I first found out-that was the first thought in my mind. Now that sounds racist..and I really don't care. Had he been white I'd feel the same way, he deserves to die. It's of absolutely no surprise to me that he is a black male, it always is isn't it? And yes, you're right it's a big problem among them. God forbid I put what I really think on here-WITN would never allow it because it's being too "racist", so I modified. And yes...I did know her very well. I pray he dies a miserable death like he deserves and I agree with the fact that we have a serious problem with blacks.

Anonymous of Jun 29, 2009 at 11:53 PM, are you saying there is not a problem with a disproportionately high crime rate among black males? If that is what you are saying, that is what sounds, "just ignorant" to those of us with the ability to reason. The rest of what you say is reasonable but not recognizing this incident as a part of a greater problem is brainwashed foolishness. Sounds like you knew her, sorry for your loss. Let's not make the mistake of seeing this incident like it was a isolated incident that happened in a vacuum. This is one tragedy among thousands as the inocent victims pile up at the hands of one small sub group of people. To solve the problem, we must recognize and acknowledge the real problem.

I would like to start off by saying that everybody who refers to this case as a blacks against whites thing is more than just ignorant. This pathetic "man" brutally murdered a sweet and loving girl who never did anything to hurt anyone. She helped people when they needed it, she was always willing to do whatever she could for anybody..and then this guy comes in and brutally murders her at her own restaurant and then goes on with his day like nothing ever happened. He deserves the death penalty without a doubt and much worse. They should have never let him out out of prison and it'll make me sick to my stomach to see him go back to jail and live on my tax money and be out by the time he's 55 and still able to go on with his life. He's a low life and deserves to die in the worst way imaginable. I hope he gets the needle and suffers as much as possible every second of it, I pray no matter what the family may want (I don't know of course) the DA will go for the death penalty no matter what

Sandy was my best friend for over 18 years...we shared everything together and this monster CONFESSED to taking her life...so to those who say "innocent until proven guilty" I suggest you read the story again. This "man" is a brutal monster and deserves to pay the ultimate price for what he did. Sandy did not have a racist bone in her body...she was always trying to teach tolerance to those that are. This is absolutely the worst thing that could have happened to anyone. To those that don't support the death penalty, why don't YOU take this monster in and let him around your children? I don't care about his past, and do not think I should have to fund HIS future since he made the decision to make sure that my best friend would not have one.

Sandy was a very sweet lady and it is a shame that someone so worthless and so sorry has got to take the life of someone so young and with a life ahead, they need to put this man in a room without the cops but with her family her friends her boyfriend and employers from applebees and make him have a long sufferable death...

For Jay of Williamston..the 1st Amendment to the Constitution of the US guarantees free speech only to the Congress of the US. But why let a little thing like the truth get in the way of a good story.
