Tempers Flare At Jacksonville City Council Meeting

It was nearly standing room only at the Jacksonville City Council Meeting Tuesday night, as folks showed up to voice their opinions about the recent firing of the City Manager.

One by one current employees of the City of Jacksonville as well as city residents looked council members straight in the eye, and voiced their concern about former City Manager Kristoff Bauer unexpected firing last week.

The packed house roared with applause and stood on their feet as each city employee or city resident finished with their opinions.

In a 4 to 2 vote last week Bauer was ousted from a position he held with the city for more than 3 years.

Assistant City Manager Ron Massey will now serve as Interim City Manager. The city also decided to approve their 43.5 million dollar budget at the meeting

Why doesn't this article make any mention or discuss the supposed "Tempers Flare" statement used in the headline? Were there any fights, conflicts or vocal outbursts? Or was this just sensationalism to get us to read an otherwise mundane story?

Hats off to the supporters of the former City Manager. They made excellent points and are to be commended for making public their beliefs. However, every City or Town Manager knows that he/she must count votes of support before work each morning. Everyone has been heard, it's time to move on.
