A local graduate couldn't walk across the stage to get his diploma earlier this month because a recent accident kept him confined to a hospital bed. So, representatives from Shaw University decided to bring the diploma to him.
Edgar Huff Junior from Onslow County received his bachelor of arts degree in political science in his hospital room at Pitt County Memorial Hospital Friday morning.
Huff couldn't make it to his May 9th graduation in Raleigh, after his accident on May 5th, so the executive vice president of Shaw University, along with others, presented Huff his degree.
Huff says he's overwhelmed by their support. "I have a lot of friends and family members that care about me. That's probably the biggest thing, there's been a lot of support out there for me, alot of phone calls, cards and letters and stuff."
Huff also received the honor of Magna Cum Laude at graduation. He also was a standout pitcher for the Shaw baseball team during his college career.
