CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C -- Marines at Camp Lejeune will celebrate
the National Day of Prayer with an early breakfast and services at
several chapels on base.
Jason Brinker, senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, will speak Thursday at the Paradise Point Officers' Club. He will focus his prayer on the nation and its leaders, the church and military families.
Prayer services also will be held at the Main Post Chapel, Hope Chapel, Faith Chapel and Womack Chapel.
The National Day of Prayer in an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May. It invites people of all faiths to pray for the country.
It was created in 1952 by a resolution in Congress, and signed into law by President Harry Truman.
