Camp Lejeune Marines Leaving For Afghanistan

Camp Lejeune Marines are heading to Afghanistan today as the Pentagon ramps up forces there.

One-hundred members of the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade will join another 2,000 Marines already deployed to Afghanistan.

Eight thousand Marines will eventually deploy to the country, half of those coming from Lejeune.

The Marines leaving today will conduct counter-insurgency operations in southern Afghanistan in partnership with Afghan National Security Forces.
