Jacksonville Has New Deputy Police Chief

A 21 year veteran with Jacksonville police has become the department's newest deputy chief.

Captain Tim Malfitano's promotion was announced Tuesday morning after what the department says was an extensive process. He replaces Deputy Chief David Shipp, who recently retired.

Malfitano is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, holds an undergraduate degree from Campbell University and a masters degree from Boston University.
