Discount retail chain Marshalls has agreed to pay $110,000 to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit filed on behalf of female workers at a North Carolina store.
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said in a statement Wednesday the settlement was reached with Framingham, Mass.-based TJX Companies Inc., which does business as Marshalls, T.J. Maxx and other stores.
The lawsuit accused a male supervisor at a Marshalls store in Jacksonville of subjecting at least two women to unwelcome sexual
comments, gestures and touching.
The lawsuit said company management knew or should have known
and failed to take corrective action.
In a statement, the company said the settlement isn't an admission of guilt but rather a decision that "enables the company to move forward."
