An Ohio congressman wants the U.S. State Department to help get Cpl. Cesar Laurean back to Onslow County to face a murder charge.
Congressman Mike Turner, who's district includes Maria Lauterbach's hometown, says he recently contacted Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on the extradition from Mexico.
Laurean is a Camp Lejeune Marine who is accused of killing the pregnant Lauterbach and burying her in his backyard. He was arrested in April and has been sitting in a Mexico prison, fighting a return to Onslow County.
"Our nation owes Maria, her unborn child, and the Lauterbach family every possible effort to bring Cesar Laurean to justice," Turner said in a news release. "I am hopeful that Secretary Clinton and the State Department can help to finally resolve this sad case," he said.
