For almost two years an Onslow County woman's life has been consumed with dealing with the wrath of mother nature.
A sinkhole continues to swallow Stephanie Werners home near Catherine Lake. Its a story we first brought you in 2007.
Werner no longer lives in the home and has spent months working with the local government and her mortgage company to demolish it.
Werner spent a year and a half filing paperwork and applying for her home to be demolished -- but that didn't happen without an o.k. from her mortgage company that would have to cancel her debt. Just last week that o.k. came though and the mortgage company cancelled her debt.
Werner still owns the lot her home sits on which is valued at $10,000. She is now waiting on the home to be demolished.
