NC Petty Officer Wins Silver Star After Ambush

A Navy medic has received the Silver Star medal for heroic action during an ambush on a foot patrol in Afghanistan.

The Marine Corps said that Petty Officer 2nd Class Joshua Simson received the medal Thursday during a ceremony at Camp Lejeune.

Simson was honored for actions on July 27, 2007, when he exposed
himself to enemy fire while attending to 17 casualties.

The Jacksonville Daily News reported Friday that Simson said he was overwhelmed by the attention and "was just doing my job."

Simson is assigned to the 5th Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment.

He was working with a unit of the Afghan National Army when the
ambush occurred.

My question is, why didn't WITN cover this story? Seems it is local news, not a murder but something good that happen. Why does the AP have to cover it.

WITN Moderator, how about telling the AP to fix their stories, or do you guys just print anything.

PO2 Simson congratulations on recieving the Silver Star. Witn you guys really need to work on your Military language. Navy=Corpsmen, Army=Medic. And he did not "win" the Silver Star. What do you clowns think it was a contest!

He would certainly appreciate it if you would change "medic" to "corpsman". Thanks for covering this story. Too many good ones get overlooked.
