Camp Lejeune Marine Under Investigation For Threat To President

Local and federal law enforcement authorities are investigating whether a Camp Lejeune Marine has threatened the president.

Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan tells WITN News that his agency currently has a protective intelligence investigation ongoing involving a Marine at Camp Lejeune.

NCIS on the base says it involves a verbal threat and that Jacksonville police and the Secret Service are the lead agencies in the case.

Onslow County Sheriff Ed Brown tells us that Secret Service agents came to his jail last month to interview an inmate, but that's all he'll say about the case.

Stay with WITN News and for more on this developing story.

Robert, I agree about the news media but remember, when Heather mentions OPEC cutting production in the am, people fill up with gas. That is what drives gas prices up is panic demand. Then the glass is way empty. When the media was having their love affair with the "chosen one", they ignored his past relations and some really ugly past with our current president. They would have nailed a republican candidate for the same associations and dealings. They even hit Palin hard for what here daughter did. Why did the media not point out the "facts" on our president prior to election? Why would I know they didn't, well, CNN and Fox news did. They have more credibility for the truth now since their stories were based on fact. Whereas, remember the story (gossip) that NBC did on McCains affair with a campaign worker? That was factless news but was run anyway. So report the facts and not rhetoric from a political party. That is objective journalism.

To another Dave. If it were not for bad news the media would be out of a job. If they would leave the stories about the economy alone, we would be a lot better off. They report only the bad and keep people scared to death. Yes the unemployment rate is growing, but instead of saying well it is rising, but the good news is, we still have a little better than 90% working. Do the math, if the rate is less than 10%, what does that leave. I am not taking away from what is really going on, just trying to look at it as a cup half full instead of half empty like the media. They also have a job to do, which is to report "all" news but I believe if we as the public would read between the lines and study, we might not be as afraid.

marine02xx in Va.Beach; I don't know if you have read these posts before you posted, but maybe you should go back and read my original post 1 from the bottom. You have valid points, but at this point we really don't know what this is all about.

Rena it's posts like yours that epitomize why race is an issue that will never be resolved in this country. Also, you need some grammar lessons.

Just wondering, Renea, why you are making this a race issue? Since WITN has not reported the nature of the threat, why do you assume it is based on Obama's skin color? Do you know what happens when you assume?

Well, thank President Bush for the Patriot Act! I too am a Marine and was never a big fan of the previous administration. That said, I would NEVER make a threat to the Ci C. To hear that a Marine even thought it was OK to communicate a threat to a president elect is embarrassing. To Marines reading this post, we are not afforded the same free speech rights as a civilian. Heck, even a civilian can communicate a threat to him, whether on the internet or in public. We are suffering an economic crisis, fighting two conflicts and this idiot has a nerve to use his computer to make verbal attacks against the president on the internet? This Marine does not have the right to defend this country if he thinks he can communicate threat to the CiC. I would not want him in the same unit with me in combat (made four trips). Marines, remember oaths you swore to. This guy obviously didn't.

Oh people, get a grip. He can't satisfy everyone, no one can. I didn't vote for him and I don't agree with somethings that he's doing. Most of what he's doing, acutally. But people are going to talk about him, regardless.

He may not be doing what God wants him to do.
