Construction is underway on a new thirty million dollar public safety building in Jacksonville.
The city will house their number one fire station and police department at the multi-million dollar center one administration.
The new building will allow the fire and police departments to both grow with the city, according to the Mayor Sammy Phillips.
The project, expected to take two-years to complete, is one that has been in the making since 2007 when the city council started to set aside city property tax funds to pay for the new building.
The current building has been in place since 1957. It will be demolished and used for parking.
