Woman & Grandson Killed, Son Seriously Injured In Crash

A woman and her grandson were killed and her son seriously injured in a crash this afternoon that involved a tractor trailer and a pickup truck.

The Highway Patrol says Sheila Jett died on impact in the crash that happened on US 264 in Hyde County near Ponzer. The woman's 20-year-old grandson, Curtis "Ryan" Jett, died at Pungo District Hospital.

Troopers say the woman's son, Benson Jett, Jr., was seriously injured in the backseat. He was flown by EastCare to Pitt County Memorial Hospital. All three are from Pinetown.

Sgt. Tim Crumpler says Jett's pickup truck was westbound and crossed the center line, hitting the tractor trailer head on. The driver of the big rig will not face any charges.

My prayers go up for the Jett Family but do we know the truck driver's name and his location as he needs our prayers too! I'm sure he is devestated by the accident. I will continue praying for both families.

First off, Bennie's aorta was repaired successfully today. He remains critical but that was a major hurtle. Second, our mom lives in belhaven too. She has been at the hospital daily. She is doing as well as expected with the situation. 3rd, thanx for all the prayers. We need them. 4th, Shelia, my stepmom, wasn't old, only 53. How rude was that anyway. It was an accident. Again, thx for the prayers
