Wachovia Donates $100,000 To Help ENC Tornado Victims

Wachovia, a Wells Fargo company, is donating $100,000 to the Eastern North Carolina chapter of the American Red Cross to help tornado victims.

The announcement was made Thursday afternoon.

According to a news release, "the donation will help meet immediate needs of the victims, providing food, shelter, emotional support, clean up kits and other assistance for families and communities in the aftermath of devastating tornadoes in eastern North Carolina."

“While the impact of this disaster is still in the beginning stages, our hearts go out to our neighbors, customers and team members as they all work to rebuild their lives,” said Jack Clayton, regional president of Triangle East Community Banking for Wells Fargo. “The Red Cross and its volunteers are working together to meet the needs of our community and we are truly appreciative of their efforts.”

The company also announced some of its 3,800 team members in Eastern Carolina will volunteer to help with the clean-up efforts.

This is the first sensitive thing I have seen Wachovia do in 40 years! Of course, they had to fail and get bought up by Wells Fargo to grow somewhat of what might appear to be a heart. Maybe they have learned their lesson. I hope so! Well Wachovia, welcome to the world of those with hearts. I hope you keep it up! Thank you and bless you!

BB&T gave $150,000.00 on Monday to the Red Cross as well.....although it is a shame that less than half will reach the hands of the people who need it.

Nice of them to do. Shame it was to Red Cross where only about half of the money will go to victims.

Before folks get to far along praising Wachovia, you might want to check out the story line at this link to see how they made lots of their money. They were used to launder dope money for Mexican drug cartels. Nice business don't you think ? http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-06-29/banks-financing-mexico-s-drug-cartels-admitted-in-wells-fargo-s-u-s-deal.html
