Several Virginia Tech Hokies are spending their spring break in Eastern Carolina helping to repair homes damaged during Hurricane Irene.

The students started Tuesday in the Hyde County town of Swan Quarter today.

The students are a part of the Wesley Foundation -- which is a campus ministry for the United Methodist faith.

The demolition of a home in Swan Quarter will make way for a new home that will be built. Home owner Jason Burleson says it's an experience he'll never forget. "Its one of the most humbling experiences, seeing these guys, when I was standing in the yard yesterday they got here and seeing all these vehicles pull in--it was the most humbling experience in my life."

Burleson says that the new home will be funded by the United Methodist church.
