A waterspout that startled several people Saturday near Lake Phelps caused no damage.
Tyrrell County Sheriff Darryl Liverman says their 911 center began getting calls around 4:00 p.m. Saturday about the sighting near the Washington County line.
The sheriff says they do not believe it ever touched down and there were no injuries or damage.
WITN Meteorologist Matt Engelbrecht says conditions were good for waterspouts to form over the lake at that time.
