Truck Driver Killed In Seed Company Mishap

The North Carolina Department of Labor and sheriff deputies are investigating the death of a truck driver at a Tyrrell County seed company.

John Johnson of Pinetops died at the scene, according to Tyrrell County Sheriff Darryl Liverman.

The mishap occurred Wednesday around 3:30 p.m. The sheriff says the 64-year-old Johnson was pinned between a tractor trailer and the loading dock at Cherry Farms Seed Company, on Highway 94 south of Columbia.

The company produces wheat and soybean seeds.
