State Bans Burning For Much Of Eastern Carolina

Drought conditions and an increase in wildfires is prompting the state to ban all open burning in much of Eastern Carolina.

The state has also cancelled all burning permits, effective at 6:00 p.m. Those counties are Beaufort, Carteret, Craven, Dare, Duplin, Edgecombe, Greene, Hyde, Jones, Martin, Nash, Onslow, Pamlico, Pender, Pitt, Tyrrell, Washington, Wayne and Wilson.

The open burning ban means all burning is prohibited if it is 100 feet or more from a home or residence that someone lives in.
