A pregnant woman from Washington, DC drowned Wednesday evening on the Outer Banks.
The National Parks Service says Jill Chenet was dead on arrival at Norfolk General Hospital, while her husband, Matthew was admitted.
Park Rangers say around 6:45 p.m. they got a call to Buxton Beach for two swimmers in distress. They found the husband and wife face down in ocean, about 20 yards off shore.
The 31-year-old woman was not breathing and had no pulse, according to the Park Service.
The Park Service is still investigating what led up to the drowning.
