Nor'easter Drops Channel Depth At Bonner Bridge

There's a warning out for boaters along the Outer Banks who use the Oregon Inlet.

The U.S. Coast Guard says there is shoaling near the center span of the Bonner Bridge. A survey this week by the Army Corps of Engineers found water depths as low as two feet in the channel that runs through the main bridge span.

The Coast Guard says the shoaling has been driven by the recent nor'easter and has accelerated during the past two weeks. Water levels prior to this had been around 18 feet.

Boaters are urged to use caution, and to limit use of the channel only during high tides.
