There were several municipal elections across eastern carolina Tuesday in Atlantic Beach, Sharpsburg and Elizabeth City. The unofficial poll results from North Carolina State Board of Elections were posted Tuesday night.
Atlantic Beach's Mayor Trace Cooper III ran unopposed and won. Seven people ran for 5 town commissioner seats and the new commissioners are Harry Archer, Ann Batt, Eddie Briley,Vada Palma, and John B. Rivers.
In Sharpsburg, five candidates were vying for three town commissioner seats. The new commissioners are
Wilbur Etheridge, Raymond Moore, Jr., and Linda B. Virgil.
Elizabeth City's incumbent mayor Roger McLean lost his seat to Joe Peel. Four people ran for the two 1st ward council seats and five for the two 3rd ward seats. The results are:
Councilman 1st Ward: Jean Baker & Raymond Donnelly
Councilman 2nd Ward: Anita Hummer & Tony Stimatz
Councilman 3rd Ward: Kem Spence & Michael Brooks
Councilman 4th Ward: Lena Hil-Lawrence & Johnnie Walton
