Most Of Eastern Carolina Under Severe Drought

Nearly all of Eastern Carolina is now under a severe drought, as dry conditions continue to spread west.

Thirty-five counties are listed as being within the severe drought. Bertie, Edgecombe, Gates, Perquimans and Wilson counties were added to that list Thursday.

Another 24 counties, primarily in the central part of the state are under moderate drought conditions.
