A man is behind bars accused of having a gun that was reported stolen from the city of Roanoke Rapids.
Lawmen arrested Travon Baker early Sunday morning in Roanoke Rapids. Initially, authorities had a warrant to arrest Baker for assault on a female, but also looked into drug complaints they had received about him. After searching, lawmen found 3.7 grams of cocaine and a handgun reported stolen from the city, officials say.
It is unclear if the gun belonged to the Roanoke Rapids Police Department or not. Baker is currently at the Halifax County jail under a $5,000 bond.
