Fewer Pamlico Sound Ferry Runs This Winter

There will be fewer Pamlico Sound ferry routes this winter.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation Ferry Division reports the decision is based on traffic data from previous years and is intended as a cost saver.

There will be fewer departures at the Cedar Island-Ocracoke location from December 28 through February 29.

The schedule will be as follows:

Departing Ocracoke at 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Departing Cedar Island at 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The Swan Quarter-Ocracoke schedule will continue its normal winter schedule of:
Departing Ocracoke at 7 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. and
Departing Swan Quarter at 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Spring and summer schedules will be announced at a later date.
