The amazing rescue of fourteen people from a ship that sank off our coast during Hurricane Sandy was featured on The Weather Channel Wednesday night.
The images of the HMS Bounty ship sinking off the coast of Hatteras October 29th are unforgettable.
The 180-foot-long replica 'tall ship' built for the movie 'Mutiny on the Bounty' was headed for Florida, but sank in the 70 mile-an- hour winds and 30-foot high waves, and left the 16 people aboard calling for help.
As shown in the Coast Guard series: Helicopters arrived with rescue divers to pluck the ship's crew from life rafts. Both survivors and Coast Guard rescuers were featured in the story.
Fourteen of sixteen were saved. The captain and one crew member died.
