Highway 11 In Martin County Reopens After Grain Tanker Crash

The D.O.T. says Highway 11 reopened to all traffic this afternoon after a grain tanker overturned.

The crash happened early this morning near the Roanoke River National Wildlife Refuge.

The big rig, owned by Goldsboro Milling Company, was carrying grain when flipped on its side. The truck driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to troopers.

Officials say the truck skidded 500 feet in the mud and took out a sign.

The grain had to be removed before the 18-wheeler was turned right-side up and hauled away.

The highway opened for traffic again shortly before 1:30 p.m.
