A deadly fire claims the life of three family members early Sunday morning.
Officials were called out to the home at 1136 Arcola Road in Halifax County around 2:00 a.m.
Witnesses told WITN the intensity of the fire could be seen from over a half mile away.
David Richardson, a family friend for over 20 years said, "It was an inferno. When I came out at say 1:30 or 2:00, my daughter and son woke me up. The flames were over the top of the trees. One other guy went all the way up to the door, and the flames were so high and hot, he had to back away."
Friends say Paul Lynch, his father Linwood Lynch, and Steve Richardson were unable to escape the flames that completely destroyed their home.
Margo Richardson, a family member, said, "This tragedy right here put a whole lot of hurt in my hurt, and for those that did know him and that I want everybody to know that he was a very good person and I'm going to miss him."
Officials say the cause of the fire is still under investigation. The fire is not being called suspicious at this time.
The SBI's arson team has been called in to assist in the investigation.
