The Division of Motor Vehicles says it is discontinuing mobile unit visits to coastal-area towns because of what it says is the small number of transactions and high cost of doing business.
According to the division, the visits will end with the scheduled stop in Windsor on Tuesday. Other stops to be discontinued are in Jackson beginning May 12 and Plymouth beginning May 13.
Other local DMV offices will continue to offer driver license services in eastern North Carolina, including Ahoskie, Edenton, Roanoke Rapids, Tarboro, Washington and Williamston.
