HALIFAX COUNTY: Damage, Curfew Enacted

Due to widespread damage from this afternoon’s storms, Halifax County Emergency Management officials ask all county residents to please stay indoors, especially in the Roanoke Rapids area.

Several homes in Roanoke Rapids are damaged and emergency personnel need to be able to get to those who need help.

A roof was torn off a convalescent home and residents were evacuated.

William R. Davie Middle School is open as a shelter for those who have received significant damage to their homes and need a safe place to stay.

The City of Roanoke Rapids has implemented a 9:00 p.m. curfew for all residents.
