Crabber Found Dead In Little River

Officials are investigating the death of a crabber on the Little River near Elizabeth City.

Joseph Richardson, 55, of Tyner, was found dead Monday, according to the Virginian Pilot Newspaper.

Another crabber reported seeing Richardson setting his pots Monday morning. That same witness later saw his boat going in circles with no one on board. Richardson's body was found within an hour of noticing his disappearance.

The newspaper says Richardson's death appears to be an accident, though it is still under investigation.

As a commercial fisherman's daughter, I must say this is one of the toughest jobs around...and its even tougher to loose someone associated w/ it...The river is a big place and is alot more dangerous than what ppl make it out to be....Prayers go out to the family of this gentleman.
