Bridges Re-Open Over Ahoskie Creek

Two bridges reopened in the east Wednesday putting an end to a detour for drivers.

The U.S. 13 bridges connecting Hertford and Bertie Counties over Ahoskie Creek, originally built in 1934, have been closed about three months for repairs. Drivers had a five mile detour during that time.

Local businesses on Highway 13 South say they're glad the road reopened because it's more convenient for customers.

The 2.5 million dollar project was paid for by stimulus money and was finished a month ahead of schedule.
