A student has been arrested in connection with Monday's evacuation at the College of the Albermarle in Elizabeth City.
Authorities say Margaret White was charged with misdemeanor cyber stalking. Officials say she is a student at Elizabeth City State University.
The community college's Elizabeth City campus was shut down around 11:00 a.m. Monday after authorities say the school received an email threat.
Classes at the campus resumed today.
The 18-year-old White is from Tyner in Chowan County and was released on a $10,000 bond. White has an October 31st court date.
The website for the College of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City says the campus will re-open Tuesday after lawmen said an email threat to the school prompted the closure Monday.
The campus will operate on a normal schedule Tuesday.
The College of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City closed its campus around 11:00 a.m. Monday.
Pasquotank County Sheriff Randy Cartwright tells WITN News that his deputies and the SBI were assisting Elizabeth City police. He says the investigation centered on possible threatening emails sent to the school.
The website alert said the campus was closed except for "mission essential personnel."
The college president says she received information that she felt was credible enough to evacuate the campus.
Chief Charles Crudup tells NBC station WAVY that they have identified a suspect, but so far no arrests have been made.
The school serves around 2100 students from a seven county area.
