Lawmen are continuing to build their case against a Hertford County teen accused of murdering a 30-year-old man.
Frederick Williams, 17, of Ahoskie, is behind bars for the murder of Jason Harrell, of Cofield. An autopsy shows Harrell was shot several times, according to the Roanoke-Chowan News Herald.
The paper says divers searching for the murder weapon in Ahoskie Creek have come up empty so far.
Hertford County Sheriff Juan Vaughn told the paper they believe Williams acted alone.
An arrest has been made in the murder of a missing Hertford County man.
Frederick Williams of Ahoskie was arrested around 1:00 a.m. this morning by Hertford County deputies.
Sheriff Juan Vaughan says the body of 30-year-old Jason Harrell of Cofield was found around 4:00 p.m. Tuesday. A hunter called the Sheriff's Office after seeing a body near a parked vehicle off of Ware Road. Vaughan says Harrell, who was last seen Sunday, appeared to have been shot.
The 17-year-old Williams is being held without bond pending a court appearance Friday morning.
