DEPUTIES: Hallucinogenic Shroom Operation Busted

A large illegal mushroom growing operation has been discovered in northeastern North Carolina.

Perquimans County deputies say they found 188 bags with actively growing mushrooms along with a small marijuana growing operation. Almost $25,000 worth of hallucinogenic mushrooms were found on Body Road in Hertford.

Facing various drug charges are Stacey Colson and Joseph Sawyer. Their bond was set at $8,000.

Deputies say all components for the mushroom and marijuana growing operations were seized by authorities.

They will be arresting Mother Nature next week. Question: Is Farmer Joe culpable if one of these mushrooms starts growing in his cow pasture? Will the Perquimans County Sheriff arrest him?

Ben: It is "dolla" signs, but it CAN be taxed. Look at so many other states with marijuana laws. Same thing.

Thats becuase you can tax alcohol. You can't tax something that anyone can make or grow. It's all dollar signs playa.

I'll never understand why these mushrooms are illegal, while alcohol (which kills so many people) is legal. I've never heard of anyone dying from mushrooms.
