AUTHORITIES: Break In 2006 Businessman Murder

There's been a break in a 3-1/2 year old murder case with an arrest today.

In February 2006 Shelby Salmon was found murdered at his business in Roanoke Rapids.

Gene Hawkins is being held without bond for Salmon's murder. Authorities say a joint task force helped with the arrest, along with information developed by the Halifax County Sheriff's Office earlier this year.

Authorities say after speaking with the 26-year-old Hawkins, they continue to follow up new leads in the death of Salmon.

Glad someone was arrested for the Shelby Salmon murder, hopefully the Hawkins man will be punished to the full extent of the law (death).Mr.salmon was a very nice man. He did not deserve to die that way.
