A police chase involving a man on a scooter ended when the red scooter crashed into a sandbox.
Brad McDaniel of Enfield is facing several charges after deputies say they saw him speeding on the scooter on Highway 301. Deputies say McDaniel turned into an apartment complex and eventually collided with a sandbox. Authorities say that didn't stop McDaniel as he ran away.
Deputies say they eventually caught the scooter-speeder hiding in one of the apartments.
Also facing charges is Brian Tillery for obstructing deputies when they tried to arrest McDaniel.
Legally, scooters are only allowed to go up to 35 miles per hour in North Carolina.
