911 Line Out For Some Residents In Washington County

The Washington County Sheriffs Department has passed on some news to WITN regarding the 911 system.

Due to a possible phone line issue that may be stemming from a server in Rocky Mount some people may not be able to get through to 911.

If you can't get through you are asked to call 252-793-2422

Washington Co. Has a very good Central Communications System. The problem is Sprint, trying to run modern technology with 40 year old infrastructure.

We have never gotten the call, and we have gotten the problem "fixed" three times. This county is a joke.

as usual our county is lacking basic necessities, this is the 2nd time in recent months we have gotten the automated message about the 911 system being down, problem is some people don't have land lines and they don't get the pre-recorded message to call the sheriff # for an emergency.
